Old Point Loma Lighthouse

Nice photo of Old Point Loma Lighthouse

The lighthouse was built in 1855. It was lit for the first time in November of 1855. When it was in operation, the lighthouse was the highest in the US. The problem was that fog and low clouds would often make the lighthouse hard to see by passing ships. Almost 40 years after being built, the light was extinguished and a new lighthouse went into operation at the base of Point Loma. The lighthouse is now a museum and part of Cabrillo National Monument.

Nice photo of Gorilla with Beautiful Eyes

The way the light was hitting her eyes was amazing. I wonder what she was thinking. The gorillas at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park are beautiful. I have sat in front of the enclosure for hours just watching them. It takes a really long lens and a tripod to get these shots. They don't typically hang out right next to the public observation area.

Torrey Pines Gliderport

Nice photo of Torrey Pines Gliderport

It amazes me every time I go down to the Torrey Pines Gliderport to watch the paragliders just walk off the cliff and begin to float upwards. I don’t think I have the courage to do such a thing. They are a bit tricky to photograph with a long lens as they move pretty quickly through the air as I try to keep them in the center of the frame. It takes a bit of practice to come away with a few keepers.

Getting Gas at Costco Murrieta

Nice photo of Getting Gas at Costco Murrieta

I have never been a fan of waiting in line to pay a few cents less per gallon for gas. Costco in Murrieta just opened its gas station to the public a few days ago, and there was no line. To my amazement, I was able to pull right up and get gas. Hopefully this trend continues.
